H. Bruce Hanes was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mr. Hanes became a licensed real estate broker at age 24. In September of 1970 he formed H. Bruce Hanes, Inc., apartment house brokers later titled The Hanes Company, Inc. In 1987 and 1988, The Hanes Company, Inc. ranked number three nationally with an average transaction size of $4,700,000. Throughout its history, The Hanes Company, Inc. closed more than 5,600 investment transactions which ranked seventeenth nationally in gross revenues for commercial brokerage companies.
In the summer of 1992, Mr. Hanes opened Hanes Investment Realty, Inc. in order to focus on medium sized transactions and to better address the challenges of the new California investment real estate marketplace. He personally owns and operates 553 rental units throughout Southern California and two commercial properties located in Beverly Hills and Westlake Village. He specializes in severely distressed property “turnaround” situations.
Mr. Hanes holds a Certificate in Real Estate from the College of San Mateo in Northern California and is a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager, (CRB). He has also completed all course work required to be a Certified Commercial Investment Member of the National Association of Realtors. He has lectured at USC, the Claremont schools, Cal State Fullerton and the Real Estate Conference Group. He is the former publisher of “The Investor Preview Magazine” featuring industry leadership and market trends and is the current publisher of the “Hanes Apartment Advisor” which is mailed quarterly to approximately 22,633 owners of 40,405 individual properties in 71 Southern California cities. Mr. Hanes also recently published “Entrepreneurial Property Management”.
Mr. Hanes designed and copyrighted the G.R.I.D.S. system of marketing, an acronym for; Grass Roots Investment Real Estate Demographic Surveys/Service, by identifying and monitoring seventy-seven individual sub-markets in Southern California.

Hanes’ owned companies have represented, or marketed properties for: the Bank of America (59 properties), Senior Corp., Lincoln Property Company, Lewis Homes, Glendale Federal Savings, Frederick’s Development North County Bank, Investment Savings, Mariani-Buss, the William Lyon Company, Trammell Crow, Trust Resolution Corp., Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Archstone Communities and various other entities, individuals and institutions.
Personal Production
During the period from 1964 to 1979, Mr. Hanes listed or sold an average of one property per week. During the period between 1967 and 1979, Mr. Hanes personally closed 417 individual investment transactions. He then moved into a management position. In early 1992, he decided to return to servicing clients, the most rewarding part of his real estate career.

Property Development and Rehabilitation
Mr. Hanes developed the Toluca Terrace Apartments a 113 high end multi-family project located at 333 N Screenland Dr., Burbank CA, (Media district- across from Warner Brothers Studio) 97 units at 1414 N. Riverside Ave., Rialto, CA, 342 unit rehab, the Rolling Hills Apartment Estates, Kansas City, Kansas and a 200 unit rehab in Visalia, CA.
Personal
Mr. Hanes served in the Iowa Air National Guard, and the United States Coast Guard, Sand Island, Hawaii.
Mr. Hanes is also a professional musician, and has played lead solo sax for various groups such as the Four Preps, The Chordettes, and walks on and plays with several local bands.
Mr. Hanes lives in a French chateau home on a 6.86 acre site in North Ranch, Westlake Village, California with his wife Sharon.
